Free-To-Air channels are available on most KU band decoders in Africa and Europe. From small beginnings with a broadcast footprint covering Windhoek, Rehoboth and Okahandja, One Africa Television, with a high level of support from local, regional and global brands, has grown to become Namibia?s most popular commercial free-to-air TV station. One Africa Television is provides a free-to-air analogue broadcast, requiring only a standard television set and antenna for access, and relies only on advertising income, as it receives no state subsidies, license fees or subscription fees. The channel will replace the existing SABC Africa satellite television service whose broadcasting contract expires in March 2008. The new channel will be available on Sentech's relatively unknown VIVID satellite platform. It will be free to air, but users will need to buy a special decoder. The PAS10 footprint used will cover Sub-Saharan Africa from Nigeria to South Africa, according to Sentech's product manager of signal distribution, Miranda Abrahams.
